I'm Abby Schachner, Ph.D., an independent education policy researcher and consultant with over 15 years of experience in researching and evaluating learning and development. I'm passionate about helping children succeed by conducting and translating research into actionable practices. I have a strong background in research design and implementation, with a focus on social, emotional, and academic development and using data for continuous improvement. In my work, I partner with organizations and practitioners to develop and implement effective programs and interventions. Those partners represent state, local and federal government agencies, research institutions, foundations, and educational technology companies. Previously, I have worked at research institutions including Learning Policy Institute, SRI International, and WestEd as well as institutions of higher education, including UC Davis, George Washington University, and Georgetown University. I hold a Ph.D. in human development from University of California, Davis and graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a B.A. in psychology and double minors in cognitive science and women’s and gender studies. I'm interested in working with organizations that are committed to improving the lives of children, their families, and educators.
