I have a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry of Environmental Matrices from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, a Second Level Master Fellow of Urban and Indoor Pollution, and a First Level Master in Science Communication from University of Milan "La Statale". My expertise focuses on airborne particulate matter studies by scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray microanalysis (SEM-EDX), and on modelling by multivariate statistics (factor and cluster analysis, positive matrix factorization (PMF), etc.) for the identification and apportionment of air pollution sources. I have also expertise on EU policies within the Air Quality framework, since I join european working groups on air quality modelling as national expert. I am author or coauthor of a number of peer reviewed ISI publications and I was recently granted as Top reviewer recognized excellence from Elsevier. I also had collaborations with scientific museums (Rome, Milan), and with Garzanti Editore as writer and reviewer of the Chemistry words and semantics of "Le Garzantine" Series. I worked as scientific consultant at the Ministry for Environment of Italy, supporting Italian negotiates at EC – DG Environment meetings on Air Quality policies, and attending different EC-JRC working groups as national expert. After this period I started my career as a researcher at National Research Council of Italy (CNR). First I was contract researcher, collaborating at european (HEREPLUS, MED-PARTICLES) and national research projects concerning air pollution. Currently I'm permanent researcher in the field of airborne particulate matter (PM), specifically dealing with the development of novel methodologies to investigate the micro-chemical and physical properties of PM. I also actually chair an italian working group on aerosol sources. Scientific skills range from design of investigation approaches focused at ambient and indoor air, to the interpretation and data analysis of X-ray EDX spectra, and the management and analysis of environmental data sets by multivariate statistics, by ad-hoc software packages.
