I am a PhD in Human Services/Counseling Studies with a research focus on autism and developmental disorders. I have extensive work with children and adults on the autism spectrum, as well as other developmental disabilities and hearing loss and deafness. My current research interests are on best practices for education and inclusion of children who are deaf or who have developmental disabilities, best practices for teaching literacy to children with profound hearing loss, the effects of trauma or adoption on young children, the effects of poverty and food insecurity on children, and mental health disorders in youth. I also have experience as an academic editor and researcher in psychology, sociology, and other social sciences.
