My research interests are in different areas of mobile robots, with special focus on Control, Guidance, Navigation, Estimation Theory, Probability and Statistics, Dynamics and Vibrations, and General Robotics. I have special interest in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) techniques utilizing Kalman filter and Particle filter applications, mobile robots trajectory design and path estimation, landmark and grid based algorithms, and collision avoidance strategies. My current research areas include: • An autonomous wheelchair for physically impaired individuals • Evaluating adaptability of equipment and materials to a robotic wheelchair • Designing two-wheeled and four-wheeled car-like robot platforms • Designing the drive mechanism for highly-repeatable dynamic motions for a quadruped robot • Modification and utilization of filters for path finding algorithm matching with a GPS sensor • Developing the data acquisition of a triangle guidance system for SLAM applications • Uncertainty and error analysis using estimation theory • Probabilistic localization for wheeled mobile robots, applying Extended Kalman Filter • Navigation of a wheeled mobile robot based on dead reckoning and optical encoders readings • Fusing a stream of data from observation sensors and applying sensor fusion techniques
