I completed my PhD at the University of Oxford as part of a 4-year Infection, Immunology and Translational Medicine Wellcome Trust PhD programme. During my PhD, I established a novel model in zebrafish that enables the genome-wide profiling of neutrophils and macrophages isolated directly from the in vivo context under different conditions of inflammation. I subsequently used the model to study myeloid-mediated inflammation in three different disease pathologies, the neutrophil response to Mycobacterium marinum, the earliest stages of melanoma and to study the role of macrophages in cardiac regeneration as part of a collaborative project. All three studies were published. The focus of my postdoctoral research is transcriptional reprogramming and epigenome editing of potential pathogenic regulatory regions in chronic inflammatory diseases in an effort to reprogramme disease signatures.
