I am a dynamic and self-driven person who can quickly acquire knowledge in new areas and recognize the project needs. I have been taking part in different scientific projects in the biomedical & chemistry field for the past 10 years, including the writing, submission of scientific papers, grants, and project reports. Through my academic experience, I have strongly fostered my scientific skills such as written and oral communication, critical thinking. During my Ph.D. project, in the course of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship, I was focused on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and on the unfolded protein response to multiple organ dysfunction upon trauma hemorrhagic shock. Prior to my engagement at the Medical University of Vienna, I finished a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. During my master’s degree in Clinical Biochemistry at the same university, I investigated the involvement of ER stress in skin sensitizer-induced dendritic cell maturation. My research interests are on molecular mechanisms related to cell survival and death triggered by the body’s reaction to tissue damage. I was awarded twice with the “New Investigator Award”, in 2017 by the European Shock Society, and in 2019 by the International Federation of Shock Societies.
