I am an undergraduate physicist that had the opportunity to be involved in projects related to material sciences with both experimental and theoretical approaches. I collaborated on a research project that extracted chitosan from crab and shrimp shells. Then, I was part of a project focused on simulating organic molecules using GAMESS, in which I had the opportunity to make a contribution to biosensor science based on the theoretical results of chitosan silver nanoparticles. This work was published on the third Ecuadorian Chapters Meeting of IEEE in 2018. Later, I joined a research group called NanoComp that focused on computational simulations of solid materials, an experience that allowed me to learn about solid-state physics and the software Mathematica. Since the fifth semester, I turned my attention to mathematics and programming. For example, I collaborated on a research project that implemented stochastic discrete dynamics on a small-world network. During this research, I developed skills in graph theory, discrete mathematics, stochastic dynamics, and programming skills on C. A poster of this research was presented at the SIAM workshop of Network Science of 2018. Later, I was involved in a project in which we implemented Wu’s algorithm on Haskell and then applied it to Voronoi diagrams of quadrics. This research was submitted for publication at the end of 2018. Consequently, I got involved in an abstract field of mathematics called algebraic geometry together with computational geometry and functional programming. Additionally, due to the knowledge I acquired in computational geometry, Haskell and Mathematica, I was able to propose a model for the spreading of mosquitoes using Voronoi diagrams. This research was accepted in the Sixth International Conference on Analytic Number Theory and Spatial Tessellations. Finally, I am currently doing my thesis project in General Relativity, focused on a method called Minimal Geometric Deformation (MGD) that allows us to construct new solutions for the Einstein field equations, based on previously known solutions.
