I am an accomplished and enthusiastic biological chemistry researcher with experience in biochemistry, cell biology, structural biology and science communication. I have eight years of experience in biological sciences conducting research across disciplines with a broad technical skill set. My work has been published in several high impact journals across disciplines from JBC, Applied Environmental Biology to Protein Structure. I have been strongly dependent upon for external manuscript reviews and editing by my mentors. I have earned the reputation for being one of the best writers, which has led to many colleagues seeking me out for writing tips. Working in different cultural environments I have learned to develop and implement protocols, troubleshoot lab issues and manage laboratory personnel while building and fostering productive collaborations. Through all this what brings me the most joy is communicating science across boundaries. To further develop my skills as a science communicator, I applied to the Science Communication Fellow program at the Museum of Natural History at the University of Michigan. During this time, we were tasked with creating a hands-on learning tool for communicating my research which is highly technical for school children. It became clear that in order to answer many questions of science communication I would need a new set of skills. I jumped on the opportunity that the department provided for working as a science communication writer. As a Chemistry Science Communication Fellow, I found that my training as a researcher is extremely advantageous for writing a wide variety of communication articles and press releases.
