I am an MD (Cairo University) and hold a PhD in Biochemistry (with a focus on Radiation Biology and Tumor Biology) from Virginia Commonwealth University, USA (2006). I also completed USMLE certification (2005) and hold Egyptian Boards in Clinical Biochemistry and Obstetrics & Gynecology. With over 30 years of combined clinical, academic, and research experience, I specialize in clinical biochemistry, oncology (particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver-related cancers), and clinical interpretation of diagnostic tests and imaging studies. My core expertise includes interpreting biochemical laboratory results, tumor markers (e.g., AFP, CEA, CA19-9), liver function profiles, and oncology-related biochemical data, as well as clinical interpretation of imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound (US), and X-ray in the context of cancer diagnosis and management. As Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Diagnostics at the National Liver Institute, Menoufia University (since 2022), I lead research on HCC in Egyptian patients, supervise theses, and teach advanced clinical biochemistry, laboratory techniques, biomarkers, and related diagnostic approaches. Previous roles include postdoctoral research at Massey Cancer Center (VCU) on AKT/ERK signaling in glioblastoma, IGF1R in head and neck cancer, and BRCA1 in breast cancer. I co-authored the book "The Art of 2D Transesophageal Echocardiography: 2D Transesophageal Atlas with Anatomical and Surgical Correlation" with Dr. Osama A. Khalil (Elsevier / Academic Press, 2024), which provides a comprehensive atlas linking echocardiographic imaging to anatomical and surgical findings. I have authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications, many focused on HCC biomarkers, metabolomics, bile acids, and prognostic factors in liver cancer and viral hepatitis. My work bridges clinical practice and research, emphasizing practical interpretation of biochemical tests and imaging studies. I offer freelance scientific and educational consulting services, including: Interpretation of oncology-related clinical laboratory tests and tumor markers. Clinical review and explanation of imaging studies (MRI, CT, US, X-ray) in cancer contexts.
