I am an Assistant Professor of Urban and Regional Planning with over 20 years of experience in academic research, teaching, and community development across Ethiopia. My expertise spans justice-oriented urban studies, environmental planning, and participatory methodologies, grounded in advanced training in GIS, spatial modeling (GWR, SAR), and mixed-method research design. My doctoral work focused on the spatiotemporal dynamics of urban and peri-urban expansion, blending remote sensing tools (ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine) with household-level panel surveys to explore land-use transitions and food security in tropical contexts. I have successfully led multi-member research projects, securing competitive grants totaling over $30,000, and authored seven peer-reviewed publications in Elsevier journals. My teaching career includes mentoring Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. students, and leading curricular development in Urban and Regional Planning programs. My collaborative work with national ministries and international institutions—such as the University of Amsterdam and Edukans Foundation—has contributed to professional training programs, CPD materials, and cross-cultural education initiatives.
