Currently, he is working as a research scientist at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. He is focusing on generating Attosecond pulses, their characterization & application in Surface plasmonics. Generation of Higher order harmonics probes Attosecond pulse production. When an intense laser pulse interacts with matter (atoms/molecules/solids), harmonics are produced which are photons with frequencies integral multiple of the driving laser frequency. This process can be explained Classically, Quantum Mechanically as well as semi-classically. Three Step Model (TSM) is used to explain this process semi-classically which basically involves three steps.(1) Tunneling Ionization of Atoms (2) Acceleration of electrons by the driving laser field (3) Re encounter of electrons towards the parent ion core due to field reversal and recollision with parent atom to emit harmonics (photons with energy equal to the sum of Ionization potential of the atom and kinetic energy of the electron. TDSE can be used to describe this process quantum mechanically. If we generate isolated Attosecond pulse,then it will be definitely helpful to observe and control the electron dynamics in matter.
