While I am currently a Principal Scientist within a mid-size CRO, I am looking to engage in more editing and generation of interesting scientific content. To that end, for the past year I have been an Associate Editor, in a voluntary capacity, for the journal Comparative Clinical Pathology, a Springer Nature publication. This journal accepts clinical, pre-clinical and veterinary research related submissions. My editorial role has involved initial manuscript review or final decision as well as liaising with reviewers, other editorial staff and authors based all over the world. Currently, I am sourcing content and working with the New York-based editorial team to produce the journal’s first and second special issues. In my current position as Principal Scientist, I have scientific oversight responsibilities for the Clinical Pathology, Biomarkers, In Vitro Toxicology and Histology departments. This has involved client facing work, as well as presentation of scientific content to both scientist and non-scientist audiences. A large portion of my responsibilities include producing scientific publications for scientific journals, white papers for our company website, as well as posters for scientific meetings. In this role, project management is a vital skill as all work is multifaceted and scheduled to particular timelines. Within these projects, I am responsible for their timely completion both as a project leader and as a part of a larger team. This involves the production of data with large regulatory reports or appendices and peer review of the reports produced by others.
