For my master project, I purified a small compound, targeting STAT3 signaling pathway, from a herb extract by using HPLC, TLC, Luciferase assay and silica column assay. At this time, I could get the knowledge how to purify and identify a small molecules from medical herbs. Thus, I am definitely sure that I can give an idea to develop a new drug. Moreover, for my master and PhD degree, I studied tumors especially glioblastoma cells. Indeed, my PhD project was changing of glioblastoma aggressiveness into more benign tumor status. For the project, I used microRNAs which are known as a somatic cell reprogramming factor. Thus, I also have an idea which is totally different concept of the conventional drugs. My final research goal is developing a new drug for various cancer cells. The conventional chemotherapeutic reagents are developed as an apoptosis inducer; however, we do not have a perfect drug for a cancer yet. Maybe the reason is that our conventional drug development approach is wrong, so we need to make a different strategies. My experiences and knowledge will be helpful to establish a new strategies for cancer drug development.
