I have the expertise and eagerness to assist in roles as writer, editor, and academic coach, across numerous subdisciplines (Please see my website for more details on my experience https://craiglayman.com/). I hope I can help you! I am a Senior Fellow with the Center for Environment and Sustainability, and a Research Professor of Biology, at Wake Forest University. I am in a role that allows me to work remotely and pursue opportunities outside my teaching and research efforts at Wake Forest. Before pursuing this more flexible academic track, I was a tenured Full Professor at North Carolina State University, a Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Fellow in the Applied Ecology Department, hired as a founding member of the Global Environmental Change and Human Well-being Cluster. I received my Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from Texas A&M University in 2004 (with a Minor in Philosophy). I was also a Yale Donnelley Postdoctoral Fellow and completed a year-long Fulbright Scholarship for research and education projects in Venezuela. I have 158 publications (cited more than 19,800 times; h-index of 66) in 66 different peer-reviewed journals, spanning many sub-disciplines. I served as Editor-in-Chief for the peer-reviewed journals Food Webs and Caribbean Naturalist and as Handling Editor for Oecologia and PLoS One. I am a part-time Research Leadership and Success Consultant for the company CareerVolt, which requires expertise in grant proposal/manuscript writing and editing. Over the last three years, I have reviewed/edited for more than 150 different journals and 12 different funding agencies. I have been awarded ~$2 million in grants from large international funding agencies such as the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF; 4 major grants), other major research organizations (e.g., National Geographic), and various NGOs. I have mentored dozens of faculty, post-docs, and students in recent years. These experiences reflect a strong foundation to build toward future writing, editing, and coaching roles.
