I have worked to formulate and optimize the production of hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs). My responsibilities included, but were not limited to: 1. Writing an administrative supplement to a RO1 parent grant to obtain funding for my position, research, and professional development. 2. Budgeting funds to cover the costs of research materials and professional development. 3. Procuring research materials and equipment in a timely fashion. 4. Coordinating student efforts to maintain continual supply and inventory of glutaraldehyde-polymerized HBOCs. 5. Analyzing and summarizing data for presentation, publication, and grant updates. 6. Writing and updating standard operating procedures, manuscripts, and grant updates. 7. Supervising and verifying the consistency of HBOC batch production. 8. Instructing undergraduate and graduate student researchers in the methods of synthesis and purification of HBOCs. 9. Training student researchers in the methods of biophysical and biochemical analysis for HBOCs and review data to verify accuracy.
