I am a motivated and collaborative life scientist with a passion for communicating science. I have a PhD in molecular embryology, >6 years postdoctoral experience in stem cell biology and pre-clinical disease models, and a keen interest in the translation of basic science through innovation and multidisciplinary partnerships. I have a meticulous approach and consider myself an excellent problem solver and implementer. In addition to writing numerous primary research papers, I have thoroughly enjoyed writing commissioned review articles for Trends in Molecular Medicine and Nature Reviews Cancer. I lead projects by example and my enthusiasm, interpersonal skills and energy turn hard work into results. I can perform under pressure at the highest level and have a calm but tenacious approach to challenges. I have been involved in a wide range of research projects, including: - Engineering stem cells to secrete a variety of anti-tumour therapeutic proteins - Developing clinically-relevant cancer models in mice to test the efficacy of therapeutic stem cells - Creating a variety of FRET probes to record signalling events non-invasively in small animals - Made an inducible knock-in mouse line to genetically ablate a signalling centre in utero to establish its role in axis formation - Used confocal microscopy and culture techniques to localise patterns of proliferation in peri-implantation embryos - Defined the induction of antigen-specific allograft tolerance by intranasal peptide administration in skin transplant models - Established that Protein Kinase Cα is retained at the plasma membrane by the multidrug transporter P-glycoprotein
