Public Health Researcher| Experience in Air Quality Measurement and Modeling

I see myself as a researcher contributing to solving the air quality problems through emission and exposure management strategies. I had designed and implemented several exposure assessment projects in multiple countries – USA, India, Bangladesh and Nepal. During my PhD and postdoctoral work, I had used several measurement and modeling techniques to quantify emissions in ambient, indoor and from source. I had particularly worked on assessment of several clean energy transition pathways – carbonization and gasification. I want to use these strategies for several real-life environmental applications- stubble burning, brick kilns, waste-management, garbage burning, and pine needle management. Life cycle assessment and techno-economical evaluation of different thermochemical processes are some of the other areas that I would like to venture. I would also like to continue my research in the area of fuel processing to cater to the cooking energy demands. Apart from emission control, I am also optimistic in controlling exposure concentration at the receptor level by ventilation as a technique. I have worked on several ventilation related projects – low income housing and transit ventilation. I have experience of working on several exposure models - well mixed room, near field- far field, eddy diffusion and computation fluid dynamics. I want to use these techniques to develop exposure models catering to the occupational exposure and industrial hygiene problems in India. I would like to continue my research in low cost sensor and drone development by developing strategies towards measurement of spatio-temporal variation of air pollutants. My research would also includes different aspects of biological/ toxicological testing of air quality samples. I also plan to design large scale epidemiological studies for the Indian subcontinent to understand the short term and long term health effects of PM. I would like to continue some of lab based Concentrated Air Particulate System and vaping based chamber-based system for animal studies to understand the toxicological effect of particulate matter.
