I have spent almost a decade in dimensionality reduction and state space modeling of high-dimensional dynamic data, with a focus in neuroimaging data. This experience has given me a deep understanding of dynamic neuroimaging, source separation, state space analysis, network models. During my M.Sc., I applied deep belief networks and support vector machines to static fMRI, demonstrating equivalent performance despite no prior machine learning experience. My Ph.D. focused on projecting dynamic fMRI trajectories into data-derived low-dimensional spaces, finding information content changes in four patient groups. As a postdoctoral fellow, I have extended this work to schizophrenia patients and am adapting dynamic mode decomposition (DMD)—a novel approach in biomedical signal analysis—to dynamic fMRI.
