I am Dr. Dipanwita De. I am a chemist with doctoral degree in the field of Physical Chemistry. a During my Ph.D., I was actively involved in a collaborative industrial research project of Hindustan Unilever Limited. I also worked as research associate at Wayne State University, USA and Radboud University Medical Centre (RIMLS), Netherlands. The focus of my doctoral research was to experimentally probe nanoscale interactions of organic dyes with organized assemblies like micelles, proteins, protein-surfactant complexes and lamellar aggregates of surfactants at molecular level. I have also performed pH dependent studies of dyes in micelles. Experimental investigation included use of different molecular spectroscopic techniques like UV-Visible spectroscopy, steady state and time resolved fluorescence measurements and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS). Material characterization was performed using dynamic light scattering (DLS), circular dichroism (CD) and cryo- transmission electron microscopy (Cryo-TEM). I have successfully executed a collaborative industrial project of Hindustan Unilever Limited during my doctoral research where a liposome solubilization assay was performed. The purpose of this assay was to quantify the lipid solubilization potential of soaps. This purpose had been fulfilled using kinetic fluorescence measurements. As a post doctoral reseacher I fabricated protocol to prepare vesicles which are biomimetic membrane systems. Vesicles were studied to measure the membrane changes upon receptor crosslinking. This include temperature dependent lipid phase separation and protein segregation using fluorescence imaging and stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM). I also performed live-cell imaging, integrated confocal and force microscopy on transfected cells with fluorescent markers.
