I am an experienced Biomedical Engineering PhD scientist looking to apply my 10+ years of engineering and neuroscience background, managerial experience, and love of travel and learning to make a difference in the world. My research interests include neuromodulation, electrophysiological and behavioral experiments, and studying neurodegenerative pathways. My research experience from both biological and biomedical laboratories includes designing and executing test protocols for in vivo electrophysiological and behavioral assays in an animal (rodent) model evaluating small molecule pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD). Along with this I have experience with ex vivo molecular and histological techniques involving the preparation of neuronal tissue slices treated with fluorescently tagged custom peptides via dissection and perfusion for use in a cryostat. In addition, I have extensive travel experience having visited almost all 50 states and 30 different countries. I have also gained over 7 years of management and training experience in both a laboratory setting while working on my PhD and as a researcher on academic consulting projects with industry and government agencies including Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Kroger, IPL Plastics, CVS, the Department of Defense, and the National Institutes of Health and within the service industry (overseeing 50+ people), while managing payroll, scheduling, and ordering of supplies. I am a Competent Communicator (CC: Toastmasters International certificate) with significant presentation experience including 4 invited talks, 11 lead author poster presentations, and 8 additional poster contributing author, at conferences for ARO, SfN, BMES, ASC, and the STEM summit in the past 5 years.
