My research experience is relatively extensive. I participated in projects of Statistical Forecasts of precipitation in the Andes based on teleconnections, the relationship between el Ninho and precipitation in the Peruvian Andes, analysis of the significant changes in land-surface precipitation that have occurred over the last 100+ years. During my PhD at the University of Delaware, I developed a new spatial-interpolation method that takes into account important topographic features in order to identify optimal relationships with precipitation. I had the opportunity to assess my interpolator to estimate precipitation of contiguous U.S. during my postdoctoral research at CICS-North Carolina State University (one of NOAA's cooperative institutes). Currently I am participating in different research projects: the use of my topographic features considered in my interpolator to evaluate satellite precipitation estimates, the assessment of my interpolator in other mountainous regions, and the changes in dry areas in Latin America. My areas of interest/skills are: climate variability and change, spatial analysis, programming (Fortran, R, Matlab), Geographic Information Systems, climate change impacts and water resources
