プロフィール概要

I have experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and fluorescence microscopy. My previous research projects have included; - performing FRET-based high throughput compound screening for a kinase target, and primarily validating a novel biochemical screening platform for industry; - improving CRISPR-Cpf1 gene editing techniques in industry-relevant cyanobacteria; - molecular characterisation of a liver stem cell niche by RT-qPCR; - human iPSC culture and differentiation into cortical neurons for examination of Alzheimer's phenotypes My current PhD research aims to study the link between optogenetic excitation and protein aggregation by live imaging in a cellular model of the neurodegenerative disorder, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. I work with both mouse embryonic stem cell lines and human induced pluripotent stem cell lines differentiated into motor neurons, and analyse protein aggregation by fluorescent microscopy and calcium imaging. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills and am keen to engage a variety of audiences such as fellow scientists, industry heads or members of the public.
