I am a biologist having more than 7 years of experience in reproductive biology, developmental neurobiology. My basic education both graduation and post-graduation is in Biochemistry/ Biotechnology. For my doctoral research, I have worked on the molecular cross-talk between embryo and the uterus at the time of embryo implantation. In my research, I uncovered how one transcription factor in the endometrium performs multiple roles at different physiological states. It functions as a decidualizing factor to prepare the endometrium for receptive stage. It modulates the immunological mileu by controlling different immunomodulators. And once the receptive stage is attained it shuts off which aides the trophoblast cells to invade adequately, requisite for successful establishment of pregnancy. Major part of my study was performed using in vitro primary endometrial culture models and trophoblast cell lines. Though I have also worked on Bonnet moneys (Macacca radiata). In my post doctoral research in developmental neurobiology at TIFR, I unveiled epistatic mechanisms of another set of transcription factors which are known master regulators of telencephalic development (cerebral cortex). For most of these studies have been done using mouse conditional knockout models, however, to answer very subtle yet critical questions in early region specification of the brain, I standardized in utero electroporation technique of early stage embryo at E10.5. By this method, I can perturb the gene expression in specific area of the developing embryonic brain and the embryos can be grown up to desired stage to study the effects of perturbation. I have designed, developed and implemented experimental strategies, hypotheses and have an experience in grant proposal writing, data analyses and publication across a range of subject areas in the life sciences.
