I have a life sciences background with a Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology. My Ph.D. centered on an animal virus to understand its genetics and develop a candidate vaccine. My work has focused on the development of subunit vaccines to stop viruses that affect our health and impact our economy. These include HIV, human papillomavirus (causing cervical cancer), and viruses that infect sheep and swine. I have also had fun in designing and optimizing vaccine biotech production platforms by using genetic tools derived from a variety of viruses. I gained experience in immunology and virology. I enjoy analyzing data and writing, having published ten peer-reviewed scientific articles. These skills have translated into several competitive fellowships and a research grant. I am detail-oriented and have also driven several successful ethics applications. I have also taught students at both medical and science campuses through lecturing undergraduate medical students to supervising Ph.D. students.
