I am qualified Medical Biochemist (PhD) with a passion for research, medicine, animals and people. I have specialised skills in Point-of-Care diagnostic assay development and have the ability to advance proof-of-concept ideas for application in the commercial industry. I have built lateral flow prototypes for hCG, malaria (multiplex) and HIV/syphilis (multiplex) using various detector particles (e.g colloidal gold, NanoAct, ReSyn). My current role involves diagnostics in the animal, food and feed industry, with specific focus on mycotoxin detection. I have experience within various specialty fields of science, with my main expertise being molecular biology, polymer chemistry, surface chemistry (nitrocellulose), immunology, conjugation chemistry (antibodies, antigens, proteins, nucleic acids), microsphere emulsion technologies, dye chemistry, nanoparticles (synthesis and conjugation), immunochemistry and diagnostics. I have extensive experience in Point-of-Care lateral flow diagnostic assay design and development and have spent the last 10 years actively working in this field. I offer a vibrant energy to any project and deliver outputs within stipulated time-frames and within budget.
