My educational and research background is very broad and spans the fields of behavior, neuroendocrinology, neurotoxicology, developmental neuroscience, microbiology, molecular biology, neuroimaging, and computational biology. I have excellent presentation and writing skills, a strong attention to detail, the ability to collaborate amongst both students and faculty, and a strong desire for success. I received a Ph.D. at Lehigh University in the area of behavioral neuroscience (integrative biology) in the summer of 2010. While at Lehigh, I was a teaching assistant for 11 semesters including the courses Genetics, Intro to Cell and Molecular Biology, Behavioral Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroendocrinology, and Integrative and Comparative Biology. During my doctoral program I was also able to directly mentor two undergraduates, one of which is a co-author on my first publication. After receiving my Ph.D., I took the position I am in currently as a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University in the department of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry. I am currently studying the effects of environmental toxicants and antidepressants on brain development and behavior using zebrafish as a model system. In my research I use a unique high-throughput behavioral assay setup and high-resolution confocal and fluorescence microscopy. Since starting my fellowship at Brown University, I have published eight journal articles and a textbook chapter in collaboration with a psychology professor. I also successfully garnered grant funding through the NIH’s National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences for my work with pesticides in addition to writing a number of other grant proposals along with my research advisor. During my time at Brown University, I have presented my work at a number of international, national, and regional conferences in the form of poster sessions and invited platform talks. In my laboratory at Brown University, I currently directly mentor two undergraduates, a graduate student and a lab technician.
