Jaime Bernardeau Esteller began his professional career in 2004 in the area of private environmental consulting (marine monitoring programs, evaluation of anthropogenic impacts on benthic communities). This first activity was a major learning experience in marine sampling techniques and in the development and implementation of monitoring programs on Mediterranean marine fauna and flora communities. Later, in 2009, he joined the Departamento de Ciencias del Mar y Biología Aplicada de la Universidad de Alicante, where he combined his work as a research scholar in projects related to the ecophysiology of Mediterranean marine angiosperms and the impact of desalination plants on benthic communities, with its predoctoral training, whose main line of research was the ecology of exotic seaweed, and especially the interaction of this macrophytes with Mediterranean seagrasses. During this stage, he performed several research stays in the the Seagrass Ecology Group of the Insituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO) in relation to the OSMOGRASS project (Ecophysiological responses of Mediterranean seagrass species under stress caused by hypersaline brine discharges from desalination plants). He also joined the Dipartimento di Scienze della Natura e del territorio of the Universita degli Studi di Sassari (Sardegna) where he accomplished his predoctoral training. Between 2012 and 2015 J Bernardeau Esteller has collaborated with several research organizations and foundations (IEO, ANSE, TRAGSA), where he has worked on the study of the ecology and biology of Mediterranean marine angiosperm and especially in the analysis of trends and long-term dynamics of these habitats. During this period he has continued her predoctoral training at the University of Alicante, and finally obtained his PhD degree in December 2015. In 2016 he enter as a postdoctoral researcher in the Seagrass Ecology Group of the Insituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO) where he deepens in the study of marine macrophytes ecology through various projects related to global change and the effect of anthropic perturbations in marine ecosystems. In terms of scientific productivity have been produced 13 published research articles, 2 book chapters and about 20 congress communications
