Recent PhD graduate in evolutionary biology | Statistical modelling and R

I have over seven years' experience using the R programming language for statistics, which I used throughout a Master's and PhD, including teaching statistical programming to Master's students. My main strengths are in assessing the needs of a project, identifying the appropriate statistical tests, and summarising the results in a succinct and accessible way. I have used R for data exploration and visualisation, statistical tests, and modelling using general and generalised linear regressions, publishing the results in peer-reviewed journals. I have also run bioinformatic tools (e.g. Blast, FastQC, Kallisto, PAML) on a high performance computing cluster through jobs written in bash. My PhD, which I finished in 2021, looked at the hormonal and genomic adaptations to sociality in the naked mole-rat, a curious rodent that lives in large, complex groups. The research applied cutting-edge methods to estimate the urinary hormones and gene expression in the blood, concluding that a novel adaptation to dopamine pathways may explain how this extreme social system evolved.
