I am a social epidemiologist and my work integrates, global health, gender equity, behavioral theory and infectious disease research. I earned my PhD in Reproductive, Perinatal and Women's Health and my Master’s degree of Health Science in International Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Additionally, I completed a certificate program in Bioethics and Health Policy at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. My postdoctoral training - in substance use and HIV epidemiology - was done at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. I am currently a faculty member at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. My research methods skills include both qualitative and quantitative approaches. I have extensive experience analyzing both types of data and have published multiple peer-reviewed publications, and several book chapters and technical reports on intimate partner violence and HIV prevention, reproductive health promotion, qualitative research, research ethics and community-based work in high, middle and low-income settings.
