I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Research Unit in Applied Microbiology and Pharmacology of natural substances, Research Laboratory in Applied Biology, Polytechnic School of Abomey-Calavi, University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin, West Africa). I’ve got a Bachelor in Microbiology and Applications in 2009 and a Master in Microbiology and Food Technology in 2012. Then I’ve got a PhD in Microbiology and Biotechnology in 2016. Passionate about scientific research, I’m one of those who believe that the development of World must necessarily involve science, research and innovation. I carried out national and international work with a focus on biomedical field in the service of public health. Since two years in my research unit, I’m working on the project “multiresistant strains of bacteria responsible for salmonellosis in Benin: prevalence, molecular characterization and proposal of therapeutic formulations based on traditional Beninese plants” funded by The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and UNESCO. This project is part of the search for alternative therapy to antibiotics to combat multiresistant salmonella. Currently my work is focus on the involvement of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria from hospital surfaces in healthcare-associated infections in southern Benin. Thus, he has invested in the phenotypic and genomic characterization of resistant bacterial strains in hospital environments in southern Benin. He published the first results of this study in BMC Infectious Diseases. In parallel with this survey, we are also conducting prevalence and molecular characterization studies on Rotavirus infections in children under 5 in Benin. The latter will provide Benin's National Agency for Immunization with recent data that could allow the introduction of rotavirus vaccine into Benin's annual immunization program by 2020. The results of all this research will have an impact on good health and well-being of Beninese population.
