Dr. Joy Karmakar is a Post-Doctoral Fellow working on drug synthesis in the School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, USA. He obtained his B.Sc. (Honors) in Chemistry from prestigious Presidency College, Kolkata under the University of Calcutta, and his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the School of Chemistry at the University of Hyderabad, India. Subsequently, he moved to Israel to obtain his Ph.D. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2022 and has been granted Award for Excellence Graduate Student from Ariel University. He has been honored with Special Sponsor Award (NCCR Bioinspired), European Young Chemists Meeting and Swiss Academy of Sciences, Fribourg, Switzerland in 2022. He has been awarded Postdoctoral Independent Grant by Sandler PBBR Award in 2024. He is also member of American Chemical Society, AAAS and Israel Chemical Society.
