My current research focuses both on the epidemiology of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) related disease and the design and evaluation of interventions to control these diseases. I am currently based in Kenya working on a multi-country study of foodborne disease in young children living in informal urban settlements across Kenya and Mozambique, with the aim of developing a large-scale intervention to reduce the burden of these diseases. Prior to this, I was leading the design and evaluation of a novel handwashing intervention for internally-displaced children in Myanmar and Northern Iraq and I also support the design of research tools for the evaluation of a number of other WASH projects. I am well versed in academic writing and have published in a various peer-reviewed journals both in the field of public health and in molecular biology. I am also particularly interested in mechanisms of health behaviour change among children, a topic which forms part of my ongoing PhD work.
