Dr. Basheer Ahammed K.K. is a passionate researcher specializing in remote sensing and geospatial technologies for natural resource management. His academic journey has taken him from the hills and shores of his Kerala upbringing to esteemed institutions across India and Indonesia. Currently, Dr. Basheer KK holds the position of Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Udayana University, Bali. There, he tackles the critical issue of climate change and anthropogenic pressure on coastal ecosystems and carbon footprints. Prior to this, Dr. Ahammed served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography, Central University of Jharkhand. His research focused on geomorphology, coastal processes, and disaster management. His Ph.D. thesis explored the intricate link between climate change, extreme events, and coastal vulnerability in eastern India. Dr. Basheer KK possesses extensive expertise in remote sensing data analysis (microwave and optical) and utilizes various GIS and remote sensing software for data processing. He has participated in projects on forest health assessment, mangrove ecosystem mapping, and biophysical parameter estimation. These experiences have equipped him with valuable fieldwork skills and proficiency in using advanced instruments. Beyond his projects, Dr. Basheer KK boasts a strong foundation in machine learning, geographic information systems, and remote sensing applications. He is well-versed in ESRI products, QGIS, and various programming languages. His research contributions include 14 published articles, 10 conference proceedings, 1 edited book, and five submitted manuscripts. He has also mentored three Master's students and is currently co-supervising two Ph.D. candidates at Udayana University. Dr. Basheer KK's dedication to his field is further reflected in his participation in international training programs offered by prestigious organizations. These experiences have broadened his knowledge and honed his practical skills in remote sensing, data collection, and fieldwork techniques.
