I’m going to tell you a short story culminating at this moment right here. Almost 15 years ago, while visiting my grandfather's workplace who was an electrical engineer in an old workshop in Subukia town, led me to ask why he wouldn’t retire and farm as other grandparents would always do, his answer was “An Engineer never puts his tools down”. The experience was simply fascinating, upon further interaction with him and my father, a mechanical engineer, it became quite clear that I would be an engineer one day. Fast forward 13 years later I graduated from the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology as a Mechatronic Engineer. Before and after my graduation I was lucky to work for various companies, with Sanergy limited being the latest. My role at Sanergy limited was to maintain all factory machines and equipment, design and implement engineering projects that facilitated the production process. After working for Sanergy limited I enrolled for an MSc in Energy Technology in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. This was inspired by a project I consulted for, the research and development department while in Sanergy limited dubbed “Off-Grid power production using Biogas”. This pilot project acted as a potential solution for providing a solution for the 18 million Kenyans that lack access to electricity and by extension lack access to water and food
