I specialize in human factors design for real and virtual displays. I am the co-editor of the text Head Mounted Displays: Designing for the User. I have supported research on head-mounted displays for micro-surgery, near-eye displays for the U.S. Display Consortium, image compression for the Air Force SBIR, a wide-field HMD for close-quarters battle simulation for the Navy, a mixed-resolution wide-field HMD for the Air Force, stereo applications for Air Force pilots, and a color set for Air Force HUDs and HMDs. My consulting clients include Kaiser Electro-Optics, Vista Medical, Surgivision, Eyewear Integrated Systems, FakeSpace Labs, Colorado Microdisplay, SurgiVision, Rockwell, Vision Systems International, and SA Photonics. I have taught courses in human factors and statistics for the University of Southern California, and seminars on HMD design for SPIE. I live in La Quinta CA—near Palm Springs and play golf on the local desert courses, arrange songs for solo electric guitar, and follow Stanford football.
