My research program concentrates on computer vision as a means of automatically evaluating the performance of electronic imaging systems. The basic idea is taking the imaging system as a black box, and analyzing the output image/video to assess the objective quality without reference. Feature extraction and machine learning are adopted to predict the quality of the output image/video as seen by an average human observer. The objective quality assessment naturally should have a strong correlation with the subjective assessment, but also should be fast, ecient and economical in applications.
