I hold a Master’s degree in Physiology from Stellenbosch University, where my research focused on extracellular vesicles (EVs), exosomes, and their effects on skeletal muscle physiology. My MSc thesis investigated how myoblast- and fibroblast-derived EVs influence muscle cell migration and regulatory pathways, and I co-authored a peer-reviewed publication in Journal of Muscle Research and Cell Motility (2025). I have gained diverse international experience through research internships and consultancy roles: At Cellcolabs (Sweden), I contributed to the development of potency assays for exosome-based therapies, worked with bone marrow and adipose mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), and optimized experimental protocols for therapeutic applications. As a Laboratory Operations Consultant for a UAE-based cord blood bank, I developed SOPs, advised on compliance with AABB standards, and provided guidance on GMP-related workflows and expansion into stem cell and exosome therapies. At the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UAE), I worked in the proteomics laboratory, performing sample preparation, mass spectrometry (Orbitrap Exploris 480), and data analysis. My technical skills span cell culture (MSC, myoblasts, fibroblasts, HUVECs), extracellular vesicle isolation and characterization, immunoblotting, nanoparticle tracking analysis, microscopy (light, confocal, SEM), immunocytochemistry, tube formation assays, wound healing assays, and data analysis with GraphPad Prism and ImageJ. I am also experienced with LIMS systems, GMP training, AABB standards, and laboratory quality management. In addition, I have presented research at international and national conferences (including Myology 2024, Physiology Society of South Africa, and postgraduate symposia) and contributed to literature reviews on MSCs, EVs, and immune modulation for clinical translation. Alongside technical expertise, I bring strong scientific literacy, presentation skills, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities, with a clear career focus on regenerative medicine, physiology, and translational cell-based therapies.
