I am deeply interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms in place regulating different stages of animal development. During my PhD I focused my research on very early stages of mammalian development by studying stem cell biology. I published two first author papers describing the role of Wnt signaling and the TCF/LEF transcription factors in controlling the stem cell decision to either self-renew or differentiate. During the time I gained extensive expertise in mammalian tissue culture as well as in molecular biology techniques. Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow, I’m working on understanding how the nervous system develops post-embryonically specifically during animal sexual maturation. I have extensive experience in grant and fellowship writing, which has gotten funded by NIH and private institutions. I have written three first author papers that were published in prestigious journals and I have contributed to a number of other research articles in my field. I have served as an article reviewer in many occasions and I have edited grants and articles written by fellow members of the laboratory.
