I am an environmental public health scientist, with a particular interest and expertise in human exposure assessment. I am interested in how household, consumer product and environmental chemicals affect health, especially endocrine disrupting compounds. Most of my research has centered on the endocrine disruptor Bisphenol A, which is a chemical used in the manufacture of food packaging, plastics, resins and thermal printing papers (such as receipts). In that research I've considered occupational dermal exposure as well as dietary and other routes of exposure in the general population and in pregnant women. I am also very interested in the ethics of reporting personal environmental health research results to individual participants when the clinical meaning is unknown or uncertain. Risk communication and decision-making was a minor area of concentration during my doctoral studies.
