I have experience at all stages of the scientific process, including idea generation, experimental design, experimental execution, data collection/processing, and manuscript writing/editing. My research background is broad, and I enjoy taking on novel projects in new systems, My experience encompasses diverse elements of plant genetic research from transgenics to traditional breeding, as represented by the projects that I have been a part of. In perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne, L.), I developed an accelerated screening system shade-tolerant mutants and determined the genetic cause of the phenotype via genomic/transcriptomic analysis. In citrus (Citrus sinensis, L.), I worked to develop a non-transgenic method for creating CRISPR-mediated gene edits. I created genetically-modified canola (Brassica napus, L.) that is resistant to premature seedpod shattering. I also have experience transforming Arabidopsis thaliana and tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum, L.) for genetic research purposes.
