I am a doctor of Biotechnology and have 10 years of research experience in three fields of biotechnology: microbial, environmental and medical. In years 2007-2009 I have done research at the Laboratory for animal genomics (Veterinary faculty, University of Ljubljana), studying the role of gene Crem in the development of murine brain in the concept of brain anatomy and function, obesity, circadian rhythms and anxiety. That was also a part of my graduation thesis. In 2010 - 2015 I did a PhD in Microbial Biotechnology, when I did research on how to design an appropriate anaerobic microbial community to enhance the hydrolysis of a lignocellulosic substrate (brewery spent grain) for a more successful biogas production. Later I worked in a private company Arhel Ltd. as an individual researcher for biotechnology for almost two years, with the main focus on water microbiology, water monitoring in Slovenian lakes, cyanobacterial blooms and the development of an on-line sensory system for cyanobacteria determination. I also worked in an EU project for optimization of a soil cleaning method to reduce heavy metals quantity and in another EU project for optimization of water treatment technology, treating wastewater from hospitals and similar effluents containing pharmaceuticals. In 2017 I am continuing my work in the Laboratory for animal genomics with a new project. It is based on optimization of different mouse stem cells (from different sites of brain and fat tissue) isolation and growth techniques for regeneration purposes in cases like brain damage, inherited brain diseases, Alzheimer disease, dementia,...
