My qualifications are B.D.S., M.P.H (specialization: Epidemiology) and Ph.D in Public Health from one of the premiere institutes Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. My MPH thesis was on "Health care seeking behavior among HIV/AIDS cases." I am currently working as Project Co-ordinator of HIV Sentinel Surveillance project at School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh. My PhD research work was focused on causes of death, medical certification of causes of death based on ICD-10 classification, verbal and social autopsy to find out medical and social causes of death so as to reduce adult mortality. And application of machine learning methods like InterVA, KingLu, tariff method to assign cause of death. So, I got good experience of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods and analysis, demographic methods to assess completion of data as well as machine learning methods. Research: I have EIGHT years of experience in planning and conducting qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods and operational research including secondary data research. I have immense experience in working with HIV/ AIDS cases, evaluation and supportive supervision of health system, Civil Registration System by using various study designs like cross- sectional, case- control, prospective. I am proficient in literature search and writing reviews, identifying study aim, defining objectives, planning and writing research methods (sample size calculation, sampling technique, designing and validating questionnaires), analysis and interpretation of results. In qualitative study, I have expertise in data collection methods (In-depth interviews, FGDs) and analysing data both manually and by using software via thematic analysis, grounded theory analysis and ethnographic methods. Most of my publications are in PubMed indexed Internal journals like Bulletin of World health Organization, PlosOne, Indian Journal of Community Medicine etc . My major research areas are Civil Registration system: ProficiencyEvaluation of government system to assess its completeness by secondary and primary data collection and ways to improve the system further by using QUAL research, Adult mortality: Indicators of mortality by using secondary data from Sample Registration System and CRS, whether data on adult mortality is available worldwide, verbal autopsy and social autopsy, maternal and infant mortality, operational research to reduce the mortality burden HIV/AIDS- immense experience working with female sex workers, transgenders, targeted interventions to reduce incidence and HIV/AIDS mortality, assessment of India's health system to combat these epidemics, evaluation of NACO programmes Tuberculosis- study to find out how to reduce burden of TB and HIV-TB co- infection by assessing the health facilities. Maternal and child health: I have worked on assessing availability and utilization of quality maternal and child care in government health system of India. Also I am currently working on priortizing social interventions which can reduce maternal and child mortality in India. 2. Development of training and course material: I have SIX years of experience. I have been instrumental in developing short training material for Community Health Workers for epidemic identification and preparedness. I have worked as Lecturer of Epidemiology at School of Public Health, PGIMER where I gained experience of developing course curriculum, course material (theory+ practical) for Epidemiology, demography, research methodology, Communicable diseases and softwares like SPSS and Epiinfo. 3. Teaching and training I have THREE years of experience in teaching and co-ordinating sessions of Epidemiology, demography, research methodology, Communicable diseases and softwares like SPSS and Epiinfo with senior faculty.
