I am a molecular biologist with a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Vienna and current postdoctoral researcher at the Medical University of Vienna, focusing on RNA biology, aging, and genome stability. My current research investigates how rRNA modifications and ribosome-associated factors influence lifespan and stress resistance, using C. elegans as a model system. Previously, during my PhD at the Max Perutz Labs, I studied chromosomal instability in budding yeast, identifying point mutations and aneuploidy patterns that rescue defects in the Chromosomal Passenger Complex mutants. This work involved large-scale next-generation sequencing, genetic engineering, high-throughput screening, and computational analysis using Python, R, and Unix-based tools. My MSc and BSc research at the University of Edinburgh focused on epigenetic regulation, cellular senescence, and oncogene-induced senescence in mammalian cell systems. Across projects, I have extensive hands-on experience with molecular cloning, cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, qPCR, western blotting, RNAi, and biochemical assays. In my current work, I combine experimental and computational approaches, including nanopore RNA sequencing, proteostasis assays, and bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic datasets. I also supervise student research projects and have teaching experience in biology at both secondary and university level. My work is supported by strong computational skills in Python, R, Bash, and data analysis pipelines, alongside advanced microscopy and protein biochemistry techniques. I have presented my research at multiple international conferences and received an award for best presentation at the the Neurobiology and Neuroendocrinology of Aging Symposium, Bregenz, Austria in 2024.
