I'm a food manufacturing industry professional who focuses on developing and troubleshooting food products, primarily in the beverage industry and in the frozen desserts category. A large portion of my career has been focused on replicating competitor products for customers. I am very passionate about sensory exploration and flavor descriptors which fuels my curiosity in the relationship between analytical testing results and the effect they have on sensory experiences. I have strong commitment to data accuracy and record keeping originating from my background in quality assurance at the factory level. I have experience preparing documentation for regulatory compliance with government and private certification agencies. My education includes an AS in Culinary Arts and a BS in Food Science & Human Nutrition. A 7-year long culinary career, rooted in traditional techniques and fusion cuisine, helped keep my passion for food alive as I finished my science course work. I learned a great deal of restaurant management techniques and menu planning skills during my restaurant career. It also afforded me more opportunities to experiment with flavors that I would otherwise have limited access to. My experience with building nutrition-focused products ensures that any dietary needs presented by customers will be met with a high level of precision. Sourcing and incorporating organic or non-GMO ingredients is never an issue if the project calls for it. Providing consumers with new experiences in food is one of my greatest drives in life and I hope that it will be able to educate people about the diverse and delicious options we have available to us. Its my duty as a food scientist to help educate about traditional cuisines and introduce new innovations to the world.
