I have been working as Professor in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India and became "permanent US resident" with Green card in May 2014. Now I live in USA I have been Sr. Faculty/Professor; achieving professional efficiency in research and data interpretation for various research protocols, coordinating data management and review of research protocols. I have Ph.D in Organic Chemistry: Synthetic (Chemistry of Natural Products). The thesis work involved extraction of compounds, purification by various chromatographic techniques (TLC, CC, HPLC, GC), giving chemical structure based on UV, IR, NMR & Mass spectrometry and confirming the structure by synthesizing the compounds (as per assigned)and comparing all the spectral data by overlapping the two compounds (natural verses synthetic) I set up Pathology laboratory dealing with "plethora of Chemistry investigations related to various diseases, therapeutic drug monitoring (Blood levels of various drugs to decide response to specific drug dose and titrate the dose as per response) using auto-analyzers" . Overseeing laboratory budget, purchasing various auto-analyzers, pH meters, Ion exchange analyzers, blood gas analyzers and various other machinery and equipments necessary for smooth functioning of the chemistry laboratory for various biochemical investigations and ensure proper maintenance of laboratory instruments have been part of my responsibilities and have been supervising the chemistry lab for the last two decades My research area has been Biological Research related to Drug Abuse/Alcoholism (Addictive Disorders). I "set up genetic laboratory" to look into Role of gene polymorphism in drug and alcohol abuse in Indian Population…a race that has not been studied till date and am FIRST scientist in India to have initiated genomic approaches to drug abuse/alcoholism in Indian population. I have completed Research projects on Addictive disorders. Biological Basis of Stress& its implication in Drug Abuse using rat model under Prof Nicholas Goeders, Prof & Chair, Dept of Pharmacology, Toxicology & Neuroscience, LSUHSC, Shreveport, LA, USA as DISCA Award’ Genetic influences of mu opioid receptor interacting protein (MORIP) gene variants on risk for opioid and cocaine addiction under Prof Wade Berrettini in University of Pennsylvania, USA Ongoing projects: Role of ADH2 ADH3, ALDH2,CYP2E, PRSS1and CFTR genes in alcohol induced liver and pancreatic disorders in Indian Population Monoaminergic pathway genes (Dopaminergic, Serotonergic, DAT, 5HTT, GABAnergic and Glutamninergic and OPRM1) in alcohol and opioid abuse in Indian Population GABAnergic, DAT, HTT Pathway gens in Alcohol Dependence & association with PET Imaging in Indian Population Honors and awards International Visiting Exchange Scientist Award from NIDA, NIH, USA for which I worked in University of Pennsylvania, USA Distinguished International Scientist Collaborative Award (DISCA) NIDA, NIH, USA for which I worked at LSUHSC, Shreveport, Louisiana, LA, USA United Nations Fellowship award for Advanced Technologies in University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK Fellow of Royal Society of Chemists, Cambridge, LONDON(FRSC) Member National Academy of Medical Sciences, India(MNAMS) Invited to be KEYNOTE SPEAKER by University of Minnesota, USA, in 2009 Nominated as Honorary member of “Board of Directors” by Scientific Council of Skibbereen University, U.K Elected “on Research Board of Advisers” of American Biographical Institute (ABI) Awarded Medal of Honor by American Biographical Institute (ABI), USA Entered in World’s ‘Who is Who’ 1998 & 2001
