I am a mathematician with a strong affinity for data science. My academic background and research interests focus on Moment Problems, Optimization, Real Algebraic Geometry, Functional Analysis, and Cryptography, which are all closely interconnected. The Maze begins at the intersection of Real Algebraic Geometry and Functional Analysis, spins towards the General Moment Problem, and then Optimization. I have always been fascinated by cryptography and have contributed to academic research on homomorphic encryption systems and computation over encrypted data. Currently, I work as a Senior Scientist-Mathematician for the Edmonton Police Service in Canada, modelling internal processes of EPS to seek improvements that better serve the citizens. Previously, I worked as a data scientist for the Government of Saskatchewan, Canada, where I conducted predictive analytics for the Child Welfare and Corrections and Justice systems. To maximize the efficiency of my work tools, I apply my knowledge of Optimization to find the best machine-learning pipelines for my daily projects. The automated procedure has been published as a Python package that employs surrogate Optimization and evolutionary optimization methods to accomplish the task (https://github.com/mghasemi/sksurrogate). I have participated in machine learning research projects that involve typical machine learning algorithms, including deep neural networks, and I continue to collaborate with my colleagues around the world. I am particularly interested in any problem related to data, statistical analysis, Optimization, and machine learning.
