My expertise in pharmacology is focused on cardiovascular and neurobehavioral disorders. Following my Ph.D., I have worked in the biotechnology industry in San Francisco Bay Area for close to 2 years on assay development. My expertise is in developing commercial assay kits, analytical method development, optimization and validation, mammalian cell culture; biochemical and cell-based assays, molecular biology techniques including ELISA, western blot, fluorescence microscopy, qPCR; in vivo studies, rodent surgery and assessing pharmacodynamics of compounds. My doctoral research was focused on the evaluation of anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects of novel cannabinoid receptor modulating compounds in human cardiac fibroblast cells. I also studied the mechanism of action of CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid novel and synthetic compounds in mouse and rat models of hypertension induced cardiac remodeling using dose-dependent drug treatment protocols. My masters degree research was based on studying the interaction of cannabinoid compounds with the glutamatergic and GABAergic systems and the underlying mechanism of these interactions in anxiety and depression neurobehavioral disorders.
