I have completed my Bachelors degree in Microbiology (Honors) from University of Calcutta, India and masters degree in Biotechnology from Bangalore University. I was actively involved in agricultural research as junior research fellow and thereafter as senior research fellow in a DBT (Department of Biotechnology) funded project entitled " Development of large scale SSR and AFLP markers for construction of linkage map in Jute. During this tenure, I have completed my Ph.D degree with specialization in Genetics & Plant Breeding from CCS University, Meerut, under the mentorship of Prof. H.S Balyan & Prof. P.K Gupta. During this tenure I was trained in molecular marker technologies, cloning, sequencing, genotyping, phenotyping, construction of linkage maps and quantitative trait analysis. I have used a number of softwares like MAPMAKER, QTL Cartographer, QTL Network, QTL IciMapping, JoinMap , NTSYS, Map Chart, SPSS, STUCTURE, TASSEL, DARwin, Bioinformatics tools like BLAST, SSRIT and Primer3. I have as many as 16 publications in peer reviewed International Journals to my credit. Recently, I have also contributed as a first author in a book chapter published by Springer Nature. I have completed my postdoctoral work as Scientist Grade-II and as the Principal Investigator of the project. This project was awarded by the DBT, BIOCARE (Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, India) under the Women Scientist Scheme. The title of the project was “Transcriptome profiling and development of EST SSR markers for assessment of genetic relationships in Gloriosa superba” Apart from doing research, I was also actively involved in teaching. I have served as Assistant Professor at the School of Biotechnology, Rajiv Gandhi Technical university and at Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Bhopal. During this time, I have taught the M.Tech, MSc. and BSc. Biotechnology students. I have guided and assisted them in their dissertation and practical research work.
