I am a neuroscientist currently pursuing dual PhD jointly at the Interdepartmental Neuroscience at Northwestern University, USA and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. With a background in medicine (MBBS) and an advanced degree in Medical Science and Technology (MMST), I bring a unique perspective to my research, bridging the gap between clinical practice and fundamental neuroscience. My work is centered on understanding the neural mechanisms underlying motor control, with a particular focus on the role of the cerebellum and cerebellar outflow. My current project involves exploring the effect of blockage of cerebellar outflow to the motor cortex using deep brain stimulation on upper limb free reaching movements in non-human primates. This collaborative study is the core of my joint doctoral thesis at Hebrew University and Northwestern University. Previously, I have conducted research in a range of labs, from the Cognitive Information Processing Lab at the Indian Institute of Technology to the Motor Control Lab at Hebrew University, and the Motor Control and Neuroimaging Lab at Northwestern University. This diverse experience has provided me with a wide range of skills in computational modeling, synergy decomposition techniques, advanced signal analysis, and more. My research has resulted in several publications in prestigious journals such as Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience, Journal of Theoretical Biology, and IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to present my work at numerous international conferences. Throughout my academic journey, I have not only been a student but also an educator. I've worked as a teaching assistant at Northwestern University and mentored peers in machine learning. I believe that knowledge is best retained when shared, and teaching has been a rewarding aspect of my career. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am dedicated to making a difference in my community. I had the privilege to serve as a UNESCO - AIESEC Global Volunteer in Cairo, working on the social rehabilitation of children with disabilities. With proficiency in English, Bengali, and Hindi, and basic understanding of German, I am comfortable working in diverse environments.
