Research Interests: • Molecular aspects of Carcinogenesis and understanding how different proteins influence carcinogenesis. • Understanding the contribution of Angiogenesis to tumorigenecity of various solid tumors. • Studying the interplay of various cell types in the Tumor microenvironment and how they influence each other. • Translational clinical cancer research – translating novel proteins involved in tumorigenecity, angiogenesis for potential therapeutic use. • Applicative research – applying novel proteins involved in carcinogenesis or angiogenesis as diagnostic biomarkers or as potential targets. Research Experience: • Studying novel proteins involved in tumor biology and angiogenesis. • Development of novel peptide candidates for biologic drug development. • Bioprocess technology strategies such as expression engineering and cell engineering to express novel therapeutic proteins. • Involved in the QC/QA strategies such as functional bioactivity assays and analytical assays. • Downstream processing methods such as affinity chromatography, size exclusion and ion-exchange chromatographies to purify peptide-drug target. • Mammalian cell lines (primary and tumor) culture, expansion and manipulation. • Stable expression mammalian cell lines generation for production of desired proteins. • In vivo mouse knockout models to study the involvement of novel proteins in tumor progression and angiogenesis. • Knockout model creation using CRISPR-based genome editing. Management Experience • Involved in managing various aspects of the project such as - Liaising with peptide design team. - Ensuring timely delivery of peptide candidates from the production companies. - Coordinating with the QC team for the accuracy of the peptide candidates. • Management and supervision of various team members of the project to facilitate continuous progress. • Mentoring final year project students and incoming graduate students.
